The 152nd annual Congress for the Trade Union Congress (TUC) took place in September 2020 from Congress Hall. For the first time, the event took place entirely online with a capacity for 4 million viewers to participate. It was one of the first virtual events after lockdown restrictions eased, as seen in Conference News.
Event spaces
We have several event spaces of different sizes and layouts, ideal for hosting hybrid and virtual events.
Congress Hall, our largest space, has a capacity for 500 in-person guests, theatre style or 256 cabaret. This room has ample space for a stage set, complete with an extensive lighting rig and back-projection for high-quality presentations. Congress Hall benefits from its own entrance and reception desk, as well as a dedicated foyer space for breakouts and networking. Equipped with a 103” plasma screen, it is the perfect space for information, branding or sponsor and speakers.
The Council Chamber can accommodate 160 guests theatre style. Designed with its original 1950s modernist style wood panelling, it’s a popular choice for a range of events. This room also benefits from its own registration area.
Across from the Council Chamber is the Meeting Rooms, a large space which can be partitioned into four smaller rooms. When hired along with the Council Chamber, the Meeting Rooms are often used as an additional space perfect for networking and catering.
The Invision Suites, located on the second floor, offer a similar flexible layout and are the perfect space to host smaller hi-tech hybrid events for hybrid meetings. Suites 1 and 2 can be combined to create a larger event space, seating up to 130 attendees in theatre style. Suites 3 and 4 are ideal for smaller separate meetings, networking, or breakout rooms.
Event technology
Congress Centre is well equipped throughout with state-of-the-art AV facilities. Our largest space, Congress Hall, includes an 18ft drop-down screen, 21,000 lumens HD projector, microphones, and 2 HD 85” plasma screens. It also has a full sound system and intelligent lighting, meaning there are endless options to brand your event. With countless extras available to hire at your request, our venue is expertly set up to host an event your delegates will be talking about for months after.
The Council Chamber is fitted with a built-in HD projector and a digital sound system along with two LCD screens. The large windows can also be fully blacked-out should that be required during the hybrid event.
The Invision Suites are equipped with the latest hi-tech equipment and presenting facilities, including a touch panel control system for a full AV-suite, lighting set up and full black-out technology. The dedicated registration area for the Invision Suites comes with an LCD screen, perfect for branding your hybrid event.
Congress Centre is partnered with AV specialists Jacobs Massey, who will ensure the live streaming of your event runs smoothly. They can create custom set-ups in all of our event spaces to meet any requirement.
