Film shoots

Due to the numerous, original 1950s features in the Congress Centre our historic building has a Grade II star listed status with English Heritage. There are lots of different spaces in which filming is possible, from our largest space, Congress Hall – a 430sq ft, timber sprung floored conference centre – to our smallest – the original modernist lifts complete with brass fittings.

In the last three years, eight major films shoots have taken place at our central London film location and we are inundated with requests from location managers throughout all seasons.

Some of the building’s stand out features include:
  • Our sweeping staircase (one of the few floating staircases in London) which is flooded with natural light
  • The Marble Hall
  • Our inner court yard, which is adorned with 172 glass hexagons embedded in soft lead
  • The stunning wooden panelling in the majority of spaces
  • The restored parquet flooring in several spaces
  • The original 1950s lifts
  • Our large hall – over 430 sq ft of floorspace
  • The Congress Hall’s award-wining, space frame ceiling
  • Our timber sprung floor
  • The famous Sir Jacob Epstein statue of a woman holding a dying soldier
  • Conference and meetings spaces
  • The exterior of our architecturally-renowned, modernist building

In order to preserve the building’s beautiful attributes we consider every filming request on an individual basis, so please get in touch with our Events Team to discuss your project. You can reach them on 020 7467 1318 or email congress.centre@tuc.org.uk.
