As Congress Centre prepare for upcoming conferences, meetings and events, we look back on where we started to where we are now, achieving record-breaking figures with a reputation of being one of London’s most equipped conference centres.
Congress Centre has not always looked how it does today. Most recently Congress Centre invested £250,000 into AV equipment and facilities, including, an 18ft dropdown screen, 32-channel digital sound desk, two 85” Panasonic plasma screen, an intelligent LED lighting system and even more. However, there are still touches of original 1950s features throughout the building, from wooden panelling to the sculpture created by Sir Jacob Epstein depicting a mother cradling her dead son.
Congress Centre has time and time again shown dedication and excellent service, being an event venue that can be relied on. Not only is the level of service expectational, but Congress Centre have been proven to deliver on price, without having to compromise on quality.
We spoke to Nadia, Senior Conference & Sales Co-ordinator, and Claire, Conference & Sales Co-ordinator, about what they felt made Congress Centre the successful conference centre it is today and how they smash targets.

What makes Congress Centre unlike most other venues, is that most of the events team have been working at Congress Centre for over 15 years. Nadia herself has been at Congress Centre since 2008, and Claire since 2006. Therefore, the team know Congress Centre like the back of their hand, there is no question they do not know the answer to. They know how to run events efficiently, ensuring a smooth day for everyone involved.
Over the years Congress Centre has hosted a variety of different events from international conferences and meetings to fashion shows and film shoots. There have also been several household names including Apple, Barclays, Microsoft, Yahoo and the NHS, who have all chosen Congress Centre to hold their events. We asked Nadia what her favourite event to be involved was during 2023.
‘Gene Therapy -13th – 14th June – 2-day conference.
This was a new client for me this year, they were a really lovely organisation and brilliant team to work with, so professional and well organised.
I really enjoyed working on this one as we used the spaces in a different way. We switch things up by using the Congress Suite and Invision 1-3 as their main plenary rooms accommodating 130 Theatre in each, a total of 260 delegates on a Day Delegate package.
The Congress Hall was utilised as their exhibition area for up to 15 tabletop stands as well as full day catering within this brilliant space. We also accommodated 6x banquet tables for additional lunch seating for those who required it. This was possible as the numbers where perfect and worked so well. We also had The Congress Foyer available for overflow where we had some soft seating available for any additional seating requirements.
As an organisation they always provide their own AV team who provided some equipment for managing their own sound and audio record, and they utilised our data projectors and screens for their visuals. This is a great example of how we can adapt and work with clients AV and production teams in support for a successful event.’
