Medical conferences at Congress Centre – an emerging niche

We host events, parties and conferences for a wide range of businesses and associations but recently, we’ve noticed that one sector in our client portfolio is growing fasting than most – medicine and health care. We decided to take a look at why this might be and what is it about our facilities and services that seems to gel so well with the medical industry.

Cutting Edge AV Equipment and Support

All conferences need great tech that offers the most current AV solutions and a team of experts who can guarantee a glitch-free day. This is especially true for medical conferences. Whether you need to display detailed diagrams of chemical reactions on a molecular level or to play a film of a complicated surgery – precision and quality in your digital presentations are going to be hugely important.

In our main space, Congress Hall, we have an 18-foot, drop-down screen and a Panasonic, high-definition data projector which boasts 20,000 Lumens with 3D capability. This means you can be confident that every member of your audience will be able to see every minute detail of your digital content. We also have 2, 85inch plasma screens, also with 3D capabilities, one in each wing. This large conference space also houses in an-built, intelligent LED lighting system which has lights in front of the stage as well as on it – a great asset for branding and theming.

In terms of audio, the room comes with an infra-red hearing loop system and a Yamaha LS9, 32 channel, digital mixing desk and a full surround-sound system (with ceiling voice enhancement speakers). You can therefore be sure that the sound quality will be exceptional for every seat at your event.

Breakout and Refreshment Spaces

Conference organisers put a lot of effort into organising their events, but it’s important not to underestimate how much hard work it is for you delegates, too – particularly at a medical conference where the content may be quite academic or heavy going. While attending your conference, guests will need looking after from the moment they step inside the venue. The added extras like food, drink, downtime, comfort breaks and networking opportunities all play a large part in how your attendees will view the success of your event.

One of the main reason Congress Centre works so well for medical conferences is because of the array of distinct spaces which an organiser can allocate to these other elements. For starters, we have a dedicated area at the entrance of the venue which clients can takeover entirely and digitally brand with their colours or logos. The foyer, which sits alongside Congress Hall, is often used as an area in which to serve refreshments or lunch and on the opposite side of the main space is our Congress Suite which is often used as an exhibition hall or breakout room. On the first and second floors at Congress Centre we have numerous meeting spaces, great for splinter groups and training sessions.

Central Location

As important as it is to drill down into the nitty gritty of our credentials as a medical conference venue, we also know how relevant our location is to our clients. Being a venue that’s based in the heart of central London means that all delegates can get to us with minimal fuss and expense. It also means that any visitors to the capital who are planning on staying in town have a wide range of hotels with a short walk or tube ride. Your guests will also have theatreland and a fabulous choice of shops on their doorstep if they have any downtime.

Venue Capacity and Aesthetic

Most medical conferences need to cater for a large number of attendees, which is another reason our clients come back year after year. Our main space, Congress Hall, can comfortably seat 500 delegates in a theatre style and for entertaining it can accommodate 850 standing guests or 320 for a sit-down dinner.

As well as being able to host hundreds, Congress Centre is a stunning setting in which you’ll be proud to welcome guests. The whole building is packed with 1950s modernist features and the main space has a striking space frame ceiling and a beautiful, timber, sprung floor.

Catering

Our Head Chef, Damon Shorlan, has created menus for every possible catering requirement from morning coffee and snacks to bowl lunches through to finger buffets and three-course, sit-down, gala dinners. Using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients wherever possible, he and his staff prepare all the dishes on site and take great pride in serving delicious food, no matter the number of diners.
